Mini course function spaces

An introduction into topology

Prof. Dr. Georg Dolzmann, Universität Regensburg

Tuesday, September 14, 2021, Regensburg

Abstract: We will review basic notions from topology as they are known form Euclidean space and we will see how these definitions work in infinite dimensional spaces.

An introduction to function spaces

Prof. Dr. Bernd Schmidt, Universität Augsburg

Wednesday - Friday, September 15 -17, 2021, Augsburg

Abstract: We will provide some basic insight into function spaces that are used to describe mathematical models of engineering processes. We begin with classical examples (spaces of continuous and differentiable functions and spaces of sequences). We then review some basics on measures and the Lebesgue integration on $\mathbb R^n$ and finally discuss $L^p$ spaces.

An introduction to Sobolev-Spaces

Prof. Dr. Dorothee Knees, Universität Kassel

Tuesday - Wednesday, September 21 - 22, 2021, Kassel

Abstract: The lecture will give an application oriented introduction to Sobolev
spaces. We will discuss the concept of weak derivatives, basic
calculation rules for Sobolev functions and relations between Sobolev
functions of different types. And - most important of all - we will see
why this class of functions is so important for solving partial
differential equations.
